Event DetailsJoin us for the 7th annual Jonny O’s Pond Hockey Tournament, a tradition built on community, resilience, and the spirit of giving back. This year, we’re heading back outdoors to Forest Park at the newly remodeled, state‑of‑the‑art Steinberg Skating Rink at The Glade in Forest Park, bringing the tournament full circle in a setting that feels like true pond hockey. The tournament drops the puck at noon on Friday, February 5th, launching a fast‑paced weekend of action. With three games running at once, no goalies, and classic Pond Hockey Puck Boxes, every team is guaranteed a minimum of four games to keep the competition tight and the energy high. To help us stay on schedule, limited schedule requests will be accepted — please plan accordingly. Off the ice, enjoy raffles, entertainment, community camaraderie, and a few surprises, all in the spirit of DAWG Nation’s mission to lift up those who need it most. More information is available above when you register your team. Event HistoryAs many of you know, Jonny was paralyzed in a freak accident in 2020. What began in 2021 as a way to support him during an unimaginably difficult time became the spark that launched DAWG Nation Midwest. Jonny’s story is our founding story — the moment this community rallied together and proved what compassion on the ice truly looks like. The first three tournaments were held in Affton, where Jonny’s journey first brought the hockey community together. After moving to Steinberg Skating Rink for 2024 and 2025, the event returned to Affton in 2026 — a nod to its roots and to the people who helped build this chapter from the ground up. Over the years, this tournament has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for hockey families who needed it most, providing critical support during their toughest moments and reinforcing why this event matters. Seven years later, Jonny’s story continues to inspire. And this tournament continues to make an impact now for others who need the support. Venue DetailsThe heart of the Glade will be the restored Steinberg Rink, which retains its 27,500 square-foot surface — over 1.5 times the size of an NHL rink. But now skaters and non-skaters alike will have great dining and gathering options, and the rink will have the flexibility to incorporate community events, markets and passive activity in all seasons. From above, clear sight lines offered by the glass wall of the overlook will replace the stone parapet that is currently a barrier for viewing the Park and the rink below. The Glade at Forest Park Steinberg History Steinberg opened in 1957, with admission 50 cents for adults, 25 cents for teenagers and free for young children. It was built as the largest rink in the Midwest, in part to enable speed skating practice as the United States anticipated hosting the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley. During community engagements and open houses for this project, Forest Park Forever heard from people who skated during its first season in 1957 and those who made it the site of their first date in 2024 Pictured 2025 recipient Dean RobinsonRecipientOur board is currently reviewing the recipient or beneficiary for this event, and further details will be provided as we approach the date of the event.
