Event Details

The 6th annual Jonny O’s Pond Hockey Tournament returned to its roots in Affton, where the tradition first began. As many in our community know, Jonny was paralyzed in a freak accident in 2020. The inaugural tournament was launched in 2021 to support him during that difficult time, and it has since grown into an annual fundraiser dedicated to helping others in the hockey community facing life‑altering challenges.

The first three tournaments were held in Affton before moving to Steinberg Skating Rink for the past two years. This year, the event came home once again — bringing with it the same heart, energy, and purpose that have defined it from the start.

Teams competed in a classic pond‑hockey format, featuring two games played simultaneously, no goalies, and traditional Pond Hockey Puck Boxes for goals. A round‑robin structure guaranteed at least four games per team, keeping the action nonstop from start to finish.

Off the ice, the tournament atmosphere was just as lively, with raffles, entertainment, and plenty of surprises — all in the spirit of DAWG Nation’s mission to give back. The weekend honored Jonny’s journey, celebrated community, and continued a tradition that now supports countless others

Venue Details

The Affton Americans Hockey organization offers opportunities for children of varying ages and skill levels, ranging from their “Learn-To-Play” program for children as young as four, to their St. Louis Junior Blues program for young men up to 20 years old. They also provide ice time for hockey programs in St. Louis City and County, as well as Southern Illinois, which includes local high schools like Lindbergh, CBC, SLUH, and Vianney, other youth hockey clubs, a college hockey organization, and our organization, the DAWG Nation Hockey Foundation.

Kodiak White

Over the weekend, we skated in support of Kodiak White, whose life changed dramatically on May 22, 2024. That day, Kodiak suffered a seizure while driving and blacked out for more than an hour behind the wheel. From that moment forward, everything shifted. A hardworking, blue‑collar provider who rarely missed a day of work, he soon found his seizures becoming more frequent and more severe. One terrifying episode left him stopped in the middle of oncoming traffic — a clear sign that this was no longer something he could simply push through.

Our community rallied around him throughout the event, standing with Kodiak as he continues his fight. It was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do and what it means when we say no one skates alone.
