Diagnosis
In November 2023, Wyatt began feeling unusually tired and sluggish, initially thinking it might be COVID. After multiple doctor visits and various tests, no clear cause was found. About three weeks later, further blood work showed a high white blood cell count, leading to the diagnosis of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Since then, Wyatt has been receiving inpatient care at a children’s hospital and will undergo more tests in hopes of starting chemotherapy within a week. At just 18 years old and a high school senior, he’s had to miss his final hockey season and put his plans to join the military on hold. The diagnosis and treatment have placed a significant emotional and financial strain on him and his family.
Update
As of December 22nd, 2023, he’s partway through the first of six high-intensity chemo sessions. He hasn’t experienced any side effects so far, and some cancer symptoms have improved. We’re hoping for the best, though we know things can change at any moment.
A New Member of the Pack
Wyatt was the second person to recipient honors at Jonny O’s DAWG Nation Winter Classic Tournament, held at the Steinberg Skating Rink in Forest Park.
Despite the challenges, Wyatt and his family eagerly joined in a variety of weekend activities, including volunteering. We were thrilled to present them with a $15,000 check on the ice before their final game, surrounded by loved ones. Wyatt, his dad Bill, and his brother Elliott are now proud members of our DAWG Nation family and have continued to show up at future events, always ready to help others.
