Our friends from the Dented Puck Foundation made their annual trip to St. Louis last weekend. For those unfamiliar with the Jonny O’s tournament or DAWG Nation, they’re a traveling blind hockey team dedicated to promoting the sport and raising awareness. A special moment this year was when Kevin Papproth from the metro East area joined them. Kevin, a talented hockey player who lost his vision later in life, had stepped away from the game until the team reached out. Thanks to Josh Schneider, captain of the Dented Pucks and member of the US Blind Hockey team, Kevin was warmly invited to play. He fit right in, and the team made it to the championship game in their division on Sunday. The event truly reflected the mission: “Hockey is for Everyone.” On Saturday, a jersey presentation officially welcomed Kevin to the team, sparking excitement for the future of this connection.
