Recently, a few members of our Midwest DAWGS team had the privilege of joining DAWG Bowl 14 in Colorado, an incredible hockey tournament fundraiser featuring players of all abilities, from NHLers to beer leaguers and beyond! Eric Larkin and Tony Jokerst took part in the “Survivor Game,” which brought together individuals who have faced major life challenges with courage and strength. In November 2022, Eric suffered a grand mal seizure while driving, leading to a rollover accident with his family. While he’s made an amazing recovery, he still experiences seizures and is preparing for an important brain surgery in the coming weeks. During his time in Colorado, Eric’s resilience and determination left a lasting impact on new friends and our St. Louis crew. His spirit earned him and his father, Ed, spots as board members of our organization. We’re sending all our support and positive vibes to Eric as he faces this next step, confident he’ll tackle it with the same grit he’s always shown. We also finally met Adam Dowling, who has been bravely fighting a brain tumor while dealing with the tough effects of chemo and radiation. Originally from St. Louis and now living in Colorado Springs, Adam made the trip to Littleton so we could meet in person. We were honored to share the love and support he received during the Jonny O’s DAWG Nation Winter Classic last February at the Steinberg Skating Rink. Unfortunately, no photograph was taken.
