#28 – Forward/Defence

Riley Alire takes the ice this year with a purpose rooted in family, healing, and hope. Riley and his dad come from the tribes of Taos Pueblos and Mescalero Apache, whose strength, tradition, and resilience continue to guide their family’s journey. Skating alongside his father, Rick, Riley traveled all the way from Colorado to be part of the DAWG Nation Survivor Game — not just to play hockey, but to help others heal through the power of community.

Riley’s presence on the ice is a reflection of the strength he’s witnessed in his father’s journey and the compassion they both carry forward. Together, they represent resilience across generations — a father and son standing shoulder‑to‑shoulder, giving back, lifting others up, and showing what it means to turn struggle into purpose.

For Riley, this game is more than hockey. It’s connection. It’s healing. It’s a chance to skate beside his dad and support a community built on courage and compassion.
