Dan Turner knows firsthand how quickly life can change. Four years ago, while playing against the Dawg Nation team in Denver, Colorado, he suffered a heart attack right there on the ice. In that moment, surrounded by teammates and the hockey community, his fight for survival began.
What could have been the end of his story became the start of a new chapter. With determination, medical care, and the support of those around him, Dan pulled through — and today, he steps back onto the ice not just as a player, but as a survivor.
For Dan, the DAWG Nation Survivor Game is more than hockey. It’s a celebration of life. It’s gratitude for second chances. It’s proof that even when the heart falters, the spirit can rise stronger than ever.
