#13 – Forward/Defense

For many years I’ve battled an undiagnosed anxiety disorder but in 2021 it came to a head. There were times I would be unable to leave my room, lost interest in the things I used to love (including hockey) and was unable to handle any real situation without facing extreme disabling anxiety. I gained weight, developed diabetes which affected my vision and overall health.

After seeking help during the end of a long term relationship I found the source of my anxiety, developed tools to handle that and situations coming forward, identified toxic behaviors in people, developed boundaries and addressed my diabetes and other health concerns. Through the health journey I discovered the healing benefits of being around good people and giving back. After losing 80lbs, (gained some of it back, ha) I re-joined the hockey community and through the community I landed with DAWG Nation and felt at home with their mission.

I’m here to share my mental and physical health journey, removing the stigma from seeking help, whichever form it’s in and I’ve become the person I feel I truly feel I should be.
