2022 Recap:

DAWG Nation teamed up with the Twin Bridges Lightning Youth Hockey Association to put together an unforgettable weekend. Dawn Orelt, fondly called Momma O, held down the merchandise table all day, even in the blazing July heat. Our crew—Jon Orelt, Matt Heath, Sam Salah, and Jared Schmierbach—joined a round table chat hosted by Twin Bridges’ own Ryan Mahoney. The day wrapped up with a touching $25,000 check presentation to the Womack family.

A weekend filled with hockey and giving back.

After the round table, the St. Louis Blues Warrior Alpha team faced off against our DAWG Nation STL Top Dawgs in an exhibition game. Charles Glenn graciously sang the National Anthem and joined Jonny O for the ceremonial puck drop. The DAWGs claimed victory after a tough, thrilling match that kept the crowd engaged. A standout moment came during the second intermission’s “chuck a puck” contest, where Brandi’s daughter, Harper Womack, showed off her skills and won by landing her puck closest to center ice, beating out some friendly competition.

Twin Bridges

A big thank you to the Twin Bridges Lightning Youth Hockey Association for putting together this event in support of the Wack’s. The hockey tournament was a great success, and we’re excited to do it all again next year.

Brandi Womack

In 2021, Brandi was diagnosed with anaplastic oligodendroglioma, a malignant cancer she had battled before. This time, her family and doctors feared it could be terminal. She underwent surgery to remove the tumor, but complications arose when fluid built up on her brain, leading to the placement of a shunt to relieve the pressure. Her son, Liam, a dedicated player for the Twin Bridges Lightning, had been looking forward to his 10U major season. Lifelong fans of the St. Louis Blues, the family faced the emotional and financial strain of Brandi’s illness, with her husband, Craig Womack, preparing to raise their three children alone. They anticipated significant medical expenses and the loss of Brandi’s income and presence. In 2024, Brandi is in remission, dealing with the lingering effects of years of radiation and chemotherapy, but remains cancer-free and is beginning to return to normal life.
