2023 Recap:

The hockey community demonstrated exceptional unity and generosity on Saturday night at the East Alton Ice Arena. Following the Charity Game, a substantial check for $20,000 was presented to the Burdick family. Sincere appreciation is extended to the Twin Bridges Lightning Youth Hockey Association, Southern Illinois IceHawks, Metro East First Responders, East Alton Ice Arena, volunteers, Blues Alumni, donors, and all who contributed to the event’s resounding success. Thoughts and prayers remain with Stacey and her family during this challenging time, with steadfast belief in their strength and resilience.

Stacey Burdick

On March 28, 2023, Stacey Burdick was diagnosed with rectal cancer. She has completed radiation treatments and was undergoing chemotherapy at the time. Her doctors have said she may need surgery in the future, depending on her progress. Stacey works as a Teacher’s Aide for Special Needs Children at Eastwood Elementary School in East Alton, Illinois. Her husband, Travis, is a Captain with the East Alton Fire Department and a retired military member. They have two children, ages 16 and 14. A devoted hockey mom, Stacey supports her 16-year-old son, who plays for the Twin Bridges Lightning Hockey Club and competes in JV and Varsity hockey for the local high school, and her 14-year-old daughter, who also plays JV and Varsity hockey. Travis still plays for the Metro East Responders, and Stacey serves on the board for the local high schools. Her diagnosis deeply impacted the family, preventing her from working and making it hard to provide for them. During chemotherapy, she must rest, leaving her unable to help around the house and causing her to miss many family events. Travis and the kids have been deeply worried about life without her, and finances quickly became a major concern for them.
