On Saturday, October 8th, 2022, at the first-ever Gateway DAWG Bowl, the DAWGs took on the Dented Pucks and members of the St. Louis Blues Blind Hockey Club in a special blind hockey exhibition. Wearing specialized glasses to simulate different levels of visual impairment, the DAWGs embraced the challenge. Before the puck dropped, we proudly presented checks to the Dented Puck Foundation and the St. Louis Blues Blind Hockey Club. The Dented Puck Foundation team came from across the country, including players from the US National Blind Hockey Team. At DAWG Nation, our mission is to spread the message that “Hockey is for Everyone.” The night was a huge success, full of fun, excitement, and, most importantly, the spirit of giving back.
Global Brew
DAWG Nation teamed up with Global Brew Tap House in O’Fallon, IL, which served as the official tournament headquarters. They set aside a special area where participants could relax and watch their games after they wrapped up. As a thank-you, all adult players got a generous 25% off voucher. On top of that, Global Brew Tap House hosted our silent auction, drawing in plenty of visitors who were excited to check out the items on display.
We’re especially thankful for their sponsorship of our Blind Hockey Showcase Game. A big thanks to Global Brew Tap House and their amazing staff for helping make this event such a success. Their support played a key role in creating a fantastic experience for all participants. Our mission for the weekend was to share the message that “Hockey is for Everyone,” and their commitment helps us keep supporting our community while creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
David B. Heath award
We were honored to present two awards this year to individuals who demonstrated exceptional dedication and volunteer service to Dawg Nation during our events in 2022. Our sincere gratitude goes to Gary Woolard and Jay Mcquillan, the deserving recipients of the David B Heath Hard Hat Volunteer Award.
