A tournament road trip takes a frightening twist.
Eric grew up playing hockey for the St. Peter’s Hockey Club and now coaches his son Brayden’s 12U team, a role he’s held for three years. Tragedy struck on the way home from a hockey tournament in Wisconsin when Eric had a seizure while driving, leading to a terrible car accident. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital, while the rest of the family was taken by ambulance. Since then, Eric has continued to experience seizures, though his broken back is slowly healing. Mary remains in a brace for her own broken back as she awaits a decision on surgery. Thankfully, their children, Brayden, 11, and Harper, 9, sustained only minor injuries and have recovered well. However, mounting medical bills mean the family faces a difficult road ahead. This could not have happened to a more cherished family in the hockey community.
