Colin Brown was a member of the Affton Americans 2008 CSDHL team (#72) and the Varsity hockey team (#3) at Christian Brothers College in St. Louis, Missouri.

Colin was the victim of a random shooting that occurred when he and his father were traveling home from the Affton Ice Rink following his participation in the CBC Varsity Hockey game on Saturday November 23, 2024. The incident occurred on I-55 near Loughborough Avenue in St. Louis City.

Colin battled hard and ultimately played his final shift on November 27, 2024. Surrounded by his family, and honored by his teammates, his coaches and so many that loved the Brown family- Colin and his family shared the ultimate gift of hope and life to so many by donating his organs.

First and foremost, we ask for prayers of peace and healing for the Brown family and all of Colin’s coaches and teammates. A huge thank you to the entire St. Louis and Illinois hockey communities for all your support.

The Dawg Nation Foundation, a registered 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to support members of our hockey community, would like to extend our assistance. The DAWG Nation Foundation – Midwest board had a 3-to-1 matching program for every dollar donated, up to a maximum of $2,500. All donations received beyond the matching limit were directed to the Brown family.

DAWG Nation is committed to supporting members of our hockey community during times of crisis, and do not charge any administrative fees. All funds raised beyond the matching amount were provided to the Brown Family.

72 Acts of Kindness

This movement is dedicated to Colin, who was tragically shot and killed in November 2024. It’s a space to share stories about him and shed light on the heartbreaking reality of losing a child. Through “72 Acts,” they strive to carry on his legacy of community, education, and hockey. His parents, Tracey and Calvin, have started a nonprofit in his honor.
