About Coach Lalk

Allen coaches youth hockey for the Meramec Sharks and high school hockey for the Columbia Eagles. On Sunday, June 1, 2025, while working as an Uber driver, he was held at gunpoint and ordered to drive to his home. Thinking quickly and bravely, Allen drove to the police station for help. Tragically, upon arrival, the suspects shot him in the face. He underwent emergency surgery and is now starting a long and tough recovery. While we’re grateful he survived, he and his family are facing major medical bills and long-term recovery expenses. Allen has lost his left eye and suffered severe damage to his right.

Community support

In response to a violent act, numerous friends and hockey community members have nominated Allen Lalk for financial assistance to cover medical expenses, therapy, and related burdens.

Going Bar Down for Coach Lalk

It was amazing to see the hockey community’s continued generosity and support. We are honored to have the opportunity to meet Allen Lalk and his family at Bar Down Sports Bar on June 22nd, 2025 and to chip in any way we could. We will keep the donation campaign open and remain involved with the Lalk’s moving forward.

Thank you to Bar Down Sports Bar and the Columbia Hockey Club for spearheading the event!

Top Shooters

We had a chance to meet up with the Lalks on August 4th at Top Shooters to present him the jersey and the check for $35,400. More importantly, we talked, and we are all looking forward to the future with Hockey Heals and our friends in the visually impaired hockey community.

He truly serves as an inspiration to all who have the pleasure of knowing him. Let it be known that the hockey community has your back!
