About Adam Dowling

Adam grew up in St Louis and played both Ice and Inline Hockey. He finished his youth hockey at U18AA Midget winning the Missouri State Championship. He then went on to play College Inline Hockey at Lindenwood University. There he won four National Championships out of the five years in college. After college, he played in both Ice and Inline Adult Leagues. The last he played in the PIHA Professional Inline Hockey League in Colorado Springs. Adam’s father Mike Dowling has also made a tremendous impact on the St. Louis hockey scene. His involvement with the Disabled Athlete Sports Association (DASA) St. Louis Blues. Which is a sled hockey program here in St. Louis.

Adam’s Health Journey

In March 2022, Adam was diagnosed with a brain tumor. In May, he underwent his first surgery to remove the tumor and get a biopsy of the tissue. On August 1, 2023, he had a second surgery after the tumor began to grow back. Adam has been out of work and will need to travel to Kansas City for six weeks to receive proton therapy and chemotherapy, which will keep him off the job for several more months. Along with regular household expenses, there will now be added costs for the extended stay in Kansas City, on top of earlier travel expenses to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Being on long-term disability with his salary cut in half makes it even harder to cover everyday costs like housing, car payments, and other bills.

Making an impact for Adam

Adam Dowling, a former player for Chesterfield, Lindenwood, and various recreational leagues in the area, was respectfully honored as the first recipient of the 2024 Jonny O’s DAWG Nation Winter Classic at Steinberg Skating Rink. Throughout the weekend, Adam’s friends, family, and the hockey community came together to support him in a cordial manner.

During the Blues Enforcers round table event, which took place on Saturday, the 24th, we had the privilege of presenting Adam’s father with a check for $20,000 in his presence! Adam, who currently resides in Colorado, was presented with the real check by none other than Martin Richardson, founder of DAWG Nation, with ambassadors Rick and Riley Alire by his side, as seen in the picture below.
