Our Origin

How DAWG Nation Began

In January of 2011, in Colorado, a small group of adult recreation league hockey players made a pledge to honor a fallen teammate by creating a very unique foundation focused on helping families in their time of need. Utilizing a very successful strategy consisting of several annual fundraisers, we have provided financial support totaling over $6 million in direct aid to families!

Midwest Beginnings

Johnny O’s 3 on 3 Tournament

The Midwest chapter of DAWG Nation was established in January 2022 following a tragic accident that left Jon Orelt (Jonny O) paralyzed. Through the combined efforts of the community and DAWG Nation, Jonny was presented with a $55,000 check at the inaugural Jonny O’s 3-on-3 Affton Bash. Since then, the DAWG Nation team has continued to unite with the St. Louis community to support individuals in times of crisis. This annual fundraising tournament has steadily grown, becoming a prominent event within the hockey community.
